How to get higher eBay Listings
eBay will use a number of factors to determine where your listing is ranked in their search results. This includes:
- How new the item is
- The category
- Keywords in title
- Keywords in content
- Ending time
- Click to sales ratio
These are just some of the top factors that your listings must be optimised for. It sounds easy, but in many cases we look at customer’s listings and see they are not optimised 100% for all these factors.
It’s very easy to overlook your titles, or incorrectly assign the wrong category to an item, etc. For good eBay results and sales, it’s just so important that all of these are correctly optimised; otherwise you won’t stand a chance.
Top 3 listing optimisations
1. Listing title
Make sure this includes the core keywords you want your product to be found for. You would be amazed at how often people will leave their most important keywords out of their title.
For example, say you are selling and want to rank for the keyword “personalised wedding invitations”. It is critical to use these exact words within the title for best effect. You can use words either side, but you must include the full keyword to have maximum ranking potential.
2. Correct categorisation
Ensure you correctly assign the right category for your products. If you don’t do this, then you are less likely to appear higher in the results. If you’re unsure what the correct category for your product is, then do some searches for the keywords you want to rank for and see what categories the top products are in.
3. Good click to sales ratio
You need a high click to sales ratio to achieve and maintain top positions on eBay. To get this, make sure your listing looks good, is at an attractive price and contains a good description and images. In essence, you need to make your listings look trustworthy enough to buy from.
This last factor is probably the most important after the basics are completed and it’s where everyone has problems. Just how do you achieve a good sale to click ratio?
We have many advanced tactics and strategies to generate a ratio that will propel your listing up the search results.
